Voting In Person and By Mail

2022 General Election Summary

Last Day to register 
October 11, 2022 by 4pm local time. 

Mail-in Absentee 
September 24 – October 25, 2022 – Online absentee request portal open 
November 8, 2022, 6:00PM local time – date by which mail-in absentee ballot must be received to clerk

In-Person, Excused Absentee Voting
October 26-28, October 31, and November 1-2, 2022 – in-person, excused absentee voting 

​In-Person, No Excuse Absentee Voting 
November 3, November 4, and November 5, 2022 – in-person, no-excuse absentee voting conducted 

​In-Person Election Day Voting 
6:00AM – 6:00PM, local time – In-person voting conducted.

Absentee Voting By Mail

September 24, 2022 (12:01AM local time) Online portal is open to request an absentee ballot by mail.  Click on the link to request  govote.ky.gov . Requirements for voting via the Online Portal can be found here.

October 25, 2022 11:59PM (local time) – Last day to request a mail-in absentee ballot.  Voters are encouraged to request well before the deadline if they know they will be voting absentee. 

All mail-in absentee ballots must be received by 6:00PM Local Time, on Election Day, November 8, 2022 to be counted.  Voters are highly encouraged not to wait until Election Day to hand deliver their absentee ballot.  Cast your ballot as soon as you receive it. Do not delay! 

Drop boxes are available in each county to hand deliver your ballot.  To find out where the drop box is located in your county, voters should visit the State Board of Elections website at: Polling Locations  

 

 

Voting in Person

In-person, excused absentee voting October 26, 27, 28, 31, November 1, 2.  To find out when and where in-person, excused absentee voting will take place in their county, voters should visit the State Board of Elections website at: Polling Locations.Requirements for excused voting can be found here.

Early in-person, no excuse absentee voting will take place Thursday, November 3, Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5.  To find out when and where early voting will take place in their county, voters should visit the State Board of Elections website at:  Polling Locations

Voters that know they wish to take advantage of early in-person absentee voting are encouraged not to wait until November 8, 2022 to cast their ballot.   

In-person voting on Election Day, November 8, 2022, will take place from 6:00AM to 6:00PM, local time.  To find out where to vote in-person on Election Day, voters should visit the State Board of Elections website at: Polling Locations

 

Voter Proof of Identification​

What to bring to vote in-person in Kentucky

"Proof of identification" means a document that was issued by:

(a) The United States or the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and the   document contains:

1. The name of the individual to whom the document was issued;

2. A photograph of the individual to whom the document was issued;

(b) The United States Department of Defense, a branch of the uniformed services, the Merchant Marine, or the Kentucky National Guard, and the document contains:

1. The name of the individual to whom the document was issued;

2. A photograph of the individual to whom the document was issued;

(c) A public or private college, university, or postgraduate technical or professional school located within the United States, and the document contains:

1. The name of the individual to whom the document was issued;

2. A photograph of the individual to whom the document was issued; or,

(d) Any city government, county government, urban-county government, charter county government, consolidated local government, or unified local government, which is located within this state, and the document contains:

1. The name of the individual to whom the document was issued;

2. A photograph of the individual to whom the document was issued .
